RML
AD GROUP and the LE MANS 24 HOURS
Since
2004, RML AD Group has competed annually in the
Le Mans 24 Hours - the pinnacle of international
sportscar racing and the one of the toughest motor
racing events of its kind anywhere in the world.
It
is a trial of man and machine where merely taking
the chequered flag is considered an achievement
that ranks equal to winning many lesser races.
To stand on the podium at Le Mans is something
that many drivers include high on their list of
racing aspirations. Few tick that box, but Mike
Newton and Thomas Erdos have done it twice with
RML AD Group. They took the LMP2 class for the
first time in 2005, and then followed that with
a second successive victory in 2006.
Each
year they are joined by a third driver. Sharing
that first win with the two RML regulars in 2005
was Warren Hughes, former Formula 3 champion and
an ex-works driver for MG. The following year
their success was shared with 1988 overall Le
Mans winner, Andy Wallace - the only contemporary
sportscar driver to have won all the major "classics".
In 2009 the RML Lola Mazda was co-driven by American
racer Chris Dyson. In 2010, that third seat will
once again be occupied by Andy Wallace.
